Killing Michael Jackson - The aftermath Part 1

In the last few weeks since the sudden death of Michael Jackson I have had the chance to look back at events and people in his life. I, like millions of others, have also had the chance to hear various stories, theories from a whole bunch of people both those who knew him and those who didn't. It has been interesting to discuss some of the theories with friends and colleagues, both fans and non fans as well as some who basically don't like Michael.

Many theories are flying around from all angles but if I could group them I would say that for most of those who dislike Michael they believe that he wasn't fit (mentally and physically) to do the concert. This is a belief they have held even before his death, I remember many who had said to be that the concert wasn't going to happen because Michael would do something to 'get out of it'. To these, the death of Michael is a vindication of their beliefs some even suggesting that he isn't dead really just faked his death and is in a Muslim country somewhere. Crazy? I think so but then again what's one to expect with such individuals? To them nothing Michael did was ever going to be without suspect; they basically choose to believe the worse of this man no matter what.

These too are the same people who are now complaining that the coverage of Michael is too much, 'let's move on already' they mourn. It is not the negative, ugly and fabricated 'news' that they complain about, in fact whenever a 'story' breaks that is disturbing they are the first ones to let me know about it. I remember the 'autopsy leak' story when I received numerous texts about it from the same group of people. When it was proven that it was a fake and I had told them even before it was officially denounced as a fake, they were suddenly not interested. So what they are complaining about regarding the coverage is the stories that go against their beliefs, you know the 'true' stories such as the fact that Michael had vitiligo as well as Lupus and so forth. These individuals do not bother me, their ignorance is for them to bare.

The second group is some of the fans who are basically going nuts with needing to blame just about everyone for Michael death. I know a few who are beyond convinced that someone killed Michael. Now I do believe that Michael was murdered but I am waiting for the toxicology results to start looking at who the culprit is. Many other fans and non fans are doing the same. However some can't wait, it's almost like the reverse media effect: the media need to do anything to sell papers when it comes to Michael that goes beyond any journalistic and ethical/moral grounds has been taken by some of these fans in pointing fingers at pretty much everyone they can think of. This includes Michael himself, to my shock!

Michael has been dissected even by his fans more so in death than while he was alive. Accusations of his inability to run his business, take care of himself and on and on. This towards a man who still managed to leave his family wealth and financial security most can only dream of, a man who managed to raise his three beautiful kids to the well mannered and intelligent beings that everyone who ever come across them couldn't help but marvel. If prove was needed simply watch his 11 year old daughter speak at the memorial. A man who had prepared meticulously every detail of this most anticipated, record shattering concert ever. A man by all accounts whose mental, physical and emotional abilities will continue to speak through his legacy: his children, his huge business/assets, his charities, the huge outpouring of love from across the globe and so on.

Yet despite all these facts some, including fans, are too focused on his 'errors'. Correct me if I am wrong but is there anyone in this world who doesn't err? Or is it just okay to pick Michael apart? I don't know how to run let alone make a billion dollar worth of assets, yet I know that it isn't easy had it been easy wouldn't we all be billionaires? So I find it sad that you have those who have no where near the intellect, business savvy, connections, sheer guts that Michael had to posses to achieve what he did, yet they are the first ones to talk about how he didn't have good people around him etc etc.

Maybe he didn't have good people around him all the time but isn't that even a greater indication of his abilities? I mean to have bad people and still achieve that much? It seems to me that the problem with Michael wasn't just the people he allegedly had around him, but the fact that there are people in this world who seem to delight in degrading this man. I watched Bashir talk to Michael at times as though he was speaking to a retard. This is the problem, there are too many people (including some who regard themselves as 'fans') who really believe that Michael was somehow 'thick'.

I have seen many successful people loose it all, make bad decisions after the next etc but they don't get the scrutiny that Michael keeps getting. Madonna who has made a whole bunch of oops decisions in her life including posing nudes, loosing her label, etc etc is held highly as been a great businesswoman yet Michael who owned 50% of Sony/ATV catalogue (a fact that no one has ever done) is somewhat 'thick'. Really?

I start to believe that Michael knew that some of his 'fans' were no different from those who disliked him. He knew that they judged him with the same prejudices the media and many in them did and will continue to do. I bet this is part of the reason he felt alone. How could he not have been? Do you see Madonna fans bitching about her every move/decision? Or what about Paul McCartney who didn't even bother to buy the rights to the Beatles when he had a chance or married Mills without a prenup, doesn't these decisions make he 'thick' or is it only Michael who doesn't deserve the respect?

This brings me to one of the most bizarre theories I have heard so far regarding Michael's death: AEG did it! I mean WTF? So let me get this straight, AEG (who have been chasing Michael for a few years wanting him to do a concert, perhaps even a tour, with them) killed the man who would have brought them not only world wide recognition, respect but also huge fortune. So how does AEG benefit from Michael's death exactly? Anyone who thinks that AEG wanted to be known as the guys who booked MJ then he died is seriously crazy.

The logic seems to stem from the fact that AEG has spoken about some 'memorial' concerts for Michael and are selling merchandises etc. So what? Seriously how can anyone have expected anything less. Yes Michael isn't even buried yet, so? His family members are busy preparing to release albums, appearing for interviews, even performing while he still isn't buried yet! What does anyone expect AEG to do? Besides selling merchandises, tickets (which Michael meticulously designed not to mention they are his last physical design so of course some fans would like to keep them), doesn't make AEG killers.

If AEG was offering fans the option of having a bog standard ticket (you know the usual ones, a piece of paper with date/time/place for concert on) or money back then I would understand but these tickets, like everything Michael put his heart and soul in, were masterpieces in their own way. If you don't believe me please watch and see how many artists would be designing their own tickets in the future to follow what Mike did with the concert. Michael would have started a new trend, even in his passing.

It's really disturbing to hear these views expressed by some who are supposed to have 'loved' Michael. The thing is that the one thing that we know so far is on that night Michael was with his doctor: Murray. If anyone deserves a suspicious look, is this doctor. Murray's behaviour after and during Michael's last moments has been very suspicious. Yet some people prefer to focus on AEG. It's almost as if they can't see that by doing so not only are they adding to the portray of Michael as this loose-cannon unable to run his life etc (the portray which hurt Michael so much while he was alive and which he fought against to the end: the media portray) but they are also giving those wishing to cover their tracks options that may help them avoid justice. If Murray was to be taken to court and his lawyer was to present the image of Michael as proclaimed by some of his 'fans', the image of someone overwhelmed by concert, frail, trapped and so on then it is very possible that even if Murray is guilt of murder he would be set free on the grounds that Michael was beyond help and really it's better that he died! Or something to that effect. It may sound as though I am over-exaggerating with my examples here but more bizarre things have happened to Michael and his death won't stop that.

The other thing is that by attacking people such as Randy Phillips for no good reason and even implicating Kenny (the man who has worked numerous times with Jackson in other tours and whom Jackson obviously trusted), these insinuations will isolate these people from Michael. Michael is dead however as long as these people are working with affection and respect towards Michael's legacy, they are more likely to make decisions that would benefit his estate and thus his children. Pointing fingers and accusing them of this heinous crime for no reason is simply unfair. As the saying goes there is only so much stress and pain that one person can take, Michael was constantly under scrutiny and false rumours, accusations and now some of his very fans want to turn that to those who actually believed in Michael enough to invest in him, and respected his vision?

I watched the memorial which was put together with the help of AEG and I saw something that could only be done by someone who truly respected Michael, his artistry, his family and his legacy. Prior to the airing of the memorial there were bets made everywhere that the memorial would be a failure, tacky and 'resembling an award ceremony rather than a memorial' etc etc. These views were so wide spread and believed that even some of Michael's close friends opted out of the memorial. Yes some say it was because they chose to grieve in private etc but a part of that had to do with the fact that they, like many others including the media, were expecting the memorial to be a joke.

It wasn't! Instead it was more spiritual, respectful, personal and one of the best memorials ever. AEG especially Randy Phillips and many others worked hard to make it so. They did it out of respect for the man, the legend. So why are they all of a sudden under attack?

It's crazy too to see some fans readiness to forgive other really suspect people in Michael's life, the likes of Grace (ex-nanny who is back in the picture), Lisa Presley and so on but attack others for no reason. Grace had given an interview in which she had spoken of Michael in a very unflattering manner, she had attacked the thing that she knew would've hurt him the most: his relationship with his children/parenting skills. She had painted his to be a broke, desperate, lost figure. This interview (which will be released soon in it's totality) would have perhaps been released sometime during Michael's London concerts.

Now imagine what that would've done to Michael. He was already dealing with other stresses from people such as Baine, Rowe (not Debbie but another one of Joe's people determined to get Michael to perform with his family at all costs) and so on. Also imagine what would've happened if then as a result of Grace's interview, some Child support agencies decided to investigate Michael and his kids? Bashir anyone? Look this sort of scenario isn't too far fetched as we have seen in history. Plus there are many who would have pushed for it, they've been waiting for such an opportunity for ages, Gloria Alfred comes to mind. They may even have brought in Debbie Rowe to get her to fight for the custody (well some are doing just that even as I type this). Basically my point is that this would've ruined Michael and possibly killed him.

He would've died having failed to complete the concert (due to the say impact of Grace's interview), he would have died a broken, sad individual. However for some Grace is still an angel. Grace has been working for Michael for over 15 years (before she was fired) she knew what impact an interview as such could have on Michael, she was there when Michael's life was changed after the Bashir interview, so why did she do this? Money of course but also to hurt him.

Same way that Presley told everyone who cared to listen about her shame, disgust of marrying Michael. She painted him as a man 'incapable of love' knowing very well that the image fits perfectly with the 'wacko' image in the media. If he is incapable of love then it may be because he is a kid in a man's body, immature, unable to have a grown up relationship, asexual etc etc. Such a man in many people's eyes could be capable of a lot worse. She did so for the same reason others have, to hurt and humiliate Michael. When I heard that she had finally started to speak about their relationship as it really was and how gutted she was for his passing, I felt like laughing.

She wasn't gutted for his children who 'meant everything to him', of course not. Michael was almost sent to jail during that trial, which would've left his children fatherless. However at that time Presley saw, not the compassion for his innocent kids but rather a marketing opportunity for her own album and 'tour'. I remember some of the deliberately vague things she would say while in tour in Australia to the media. In fact she only stopped when it was reported that the LAPD may want to speak to her. So please this whole 'gutted' sentiment is nothing more than another attempt to take advantage of the opportunities that will unfold for her and her family.

The list goes on and on, it seems that anyone who ever did anything to Michael no matter how hurtful and potentially deadly the action/ consequence of the actions were/might be, is somehow okay to forgive and forget. Unfortunately the same attitude isn't afforded to Michael himself; in life nor in death. It is Michael's actions that are under scrutiny not those of other who have shown themselves to be anything but trustworthy or even reliable.
