BACKGROUNG
So, following my brief analysis on Joe Jackson from the Human Design System's (HDS) Prospective, I figured I should do the same for Mrs Katherine Jackson. Katherine has also been receiving much media attention lately following her son's, Michael, death. Katherine has been described by those who know her and also in the media, as the "glue that holds the Jackson family together". Katherine has been known to be a caring, loving and loyal woman but also someone whom her late son trusted very deeply. Now let's look at what we can learn from Katherine's chart. Note: These charts are created by using the person's time of birth, place of birth and date of birth. In Katherine's case, just like in Joe's, the time of birth used here is a default one. This is because I wasn't able to get the exact times of births for them from the various sources I searched through. The default time is used in such cases. It is possible that with the exact times different aspects of the charts may change but in general the charts tend to remain largely the same. However should you know of the exact times of birth for either Katherine or Joe, I would appreciate it very much if you would let me know so that I can update the charts I use here.
Katherine's chart:
A couple of things to note straight away about this chart. Firstly, Katherine, unlike Joe, is an energy being. What this means is that she is part of the 70% of the world population who have the red square (second from the bottom of the chart). Other non energy beings have this square 'open' or colored 'white'. This center is called the sacral center and it provides those with it, with a huge energy force. The energy in the sacral is to be used for 'work'. In other words if we take the example of building pyramids in ancient Egypt, then those who were digging holes, carrying bricks etc would've been a great example of energy beings using this energy.
Non energy beings are done designed to 'work' at least not in a physical/labour sense of the word. So again going back to the ancient Egypt example, those who drew the pyramids designs, those who organized the 'workers', those who directed the resources to ensure that the pyramids were build to exact specifications, on time etc all these would be a great example of the type of work non-energy beings are designed to do.
This has nothing to do with slavery by the way, it doesn't mean that energy beings are slaves whilst non-energy ones are masters or any such thing. It is simply how the energy is designed in people. The problem we have in society is that we assume that we all have the same 'energy' for the same type of work, we don't. Hence you get non-energy beings trying to build pyramids with their bare hands and wonder why they can't do it while their energy being friends take the whole thing in their strides. It's a cosmic joke folks, and there are so many such jokes!
Another thing is that having done Joe's chart, I can honestly say that had he continued to work at the steel mill (manual, hard labour) he wouldn't have seen 80! He simply isn't designed for this sort of thing, he would've pulled it of for a few years but eventually it would've crippled him or worse.
INTRODUCTION
Anyway back to Katherine, so there are 2 types of energy beings (those with that square colored red). These are; the Generators (G) and the Manifesting generators (MG), they combined make up that 70% of the world population. Katherine is a MG.
Both G & MG must wait to respond in order to find out what work is correct for them i.e., what work has the sacral got energy for, which would also be in line with what the specific purpose of their lives is in this life. What and how do they respond? You may ask, well to put it simply they have to be asked direct questions i.e., Yes or No type questions. The way that the sacral responds to such questions is by making a grunting sound such as "nuh huh'" (for "No") and "huh huh" (for "Yes") and different variations of those basic sounds depending on the individual.
This reminds me of the video on YouTube in which Michael is teaching his son Prince (who was 3 then) the game of chess. Prince is a Generator, so when I heard Michael ask him direct questions such as "Can we all fit in there (castle)" the young Prince answered like a true Generator "nuh huh, we can't"! It's so beautiful to watch. This is another point, these sounds are natural to G/MGs it's how we should be communicating, however due to different cultures, traditions etc we become conditioned to not 'grunt' because its rude or unflattering etc etc. I guess in a sense I can see why HDS is really meant to be taught to kids because then we can stop the conditioning before it gets too ingrained.
Now, back to Katherine, as a MG she not only has the energy for work but she can also manifest i.e., she can make things happen. Katherine has a defined (or colored in) ego/heart center; that is the red triangle on the right of the chart. Michael, Prince and Paris also have this center defined. Those with this center defined are in the minority in terms of the world population. In fact most people have this center 'open' or colored 'white'.
This means for Katherine that she has a real will power. A defined ego/heart center is very powerful and because most people in the world don't have constant energy in this center, people with defined ego/heart center tend to attract others. Katherine, just like Michael, Prince and Paris, is someone who when she commits to doing something, she will get it done! If she makes a promise, she will keep it. The trick is however, to know what to make a commitment to, and this can only be known to her by listening to her sacral response i.e., the 'nuh huh' or 'huh huh' sounds.
Otherwise like most people with this energy who aren't aware of how their energies work, they will keep committing themselves to all sorts of things that aren't good for them nor do they have energy for. This in a Manifesting generator like Katherine, will result in anger and frustration!
Another thing in her case is that because she is a splenic MG i.e., she has the left hand triangle colored in or brown) she needs to respond from her sacral and listen to her intuition. The splenic center defined (or colored in) is similar to Joe's chart. Both Katherine and Joe must rely on their intuition in making decisions. So whilst Joe needs to wait to be invited to things and then listen to his 'gut' feeling towards the invitation before taking action, Katherine needs to respond and feel her gut instinct towards the response before taking action.
In a sense finding out that Katherine is a MG with defined ego/heart center wasn't a surprise to me considering what we hear others say about her strength and commitment etc. She is the 'leader' in the Jackson family. Of course she is, she is the one with the life energy and also the will power in comparison to Joe, Katherine comes across as very 'solid'. What was surprising was looking at her head and ajna centers (the top two white triangles on her head on the chart). I was surprised that Katherine has both these centers 'open' or 'white' because I had expected her to have them defined or 'colored in' because I had attributed the fact that many regard her as having a mind of her own to the characteristics of a defined head and/or ajna center.
These open center basically means that ideas, thoughts, inspirations etc for Katherine come from the outside i.e., people around her, the universe etc. It also means that Katherine's way of processing information or thinking is also not consistent i.e., it depends again on external factors. Note that there is nothing negative about this at all, in fact many people have these centers open. Furthermore having them open means that one can get really smart because one isn't relying on a single consistent method.
However it does mean that, like in any open center in any chart, Katherine is easily influenced by those around her. Her beliefs, ideas etc will be greatly influenced and may even change depending on who she is around. Other areas where she is vulnerable to influence from others are her emotional center (white triangle on the right of the chart near the ego/heart center) and her sense of love, identity etc (the G center which is the white diamond shaped in the middle of her chart).
Open centers also can exert pressure depending on which center we are dealing with. In Katherine's case (just like Michael and Paris) the open head and ajna will exert the pressure to find answers to questions. If you imagine thoughts, questions, beliefs etc coming from here, there and everywhere all creating this pressure for answers, and on top of that an open ajna, which doesn't have a consistent way of processing the info to get the answers, you can see that these pressures can drive people crazy. This is why it's vital to know your own energy orientation and be aware of what is going on and influencing you daily. Of course I am not suggesting that such pressure will drive Katherine crazy or any such thing. I am just giving an example of how these open centers can manifest in life.
KATHERINE & JOE: WHAT'S THE DEAL?
Having looked at Katherine's vulnerable centers, I wanted to see how much of an influence Joe can be to her. Looking at their combined charts explains without a doubt why these two have remained together all these years. You see, both of them have open head centers, however when they are together Katherine's 61 gate (on her head center) hooks up to Joe's 24th gate (in his ajna center). These combined gives definition to their head centers; the head centers form a constant energy flow. So when Katherine is with Joe, both the ideas, thoughts etc they have become shared or unison. Furthermore she then processes the information according to Joe's way of processing information i.e., she becomes 'conditioned/influenced' by Joe's defined ajna center (remember Joe has this center defined or colored green).
What's more is that Joe's G-center (the diamond shaped yellow box in Joe's chart) also influences/conditions Katherine's open G-center (hers is white). She gets her sense of love, identity etc from been around Joe. Joe in the other hand gets his life energy for work from her sacral center (the red square). When their charts are combined they have 8 out of the 9 centers defined. Energetically this 8-1 combo creates a very easy going, comfortable energy vibe. In other words Katherine's experience in the presence of Joe and vice-versa is very comfortable and even amicable. These are not the sort of couple who have fights often or disagreements and it has nothing to do with been a JW or whatever but it's an energy ambiance.
There is even a term for this energy relationship it says; 8-1 have some fun! Simply because whenever you see a couple whose chart creates this combo you know that they have one of the smoothest relationship and would remain friends (if nothing else) for life. Another interesting comment to add here is that back in the day when I first got into HDS and started looking at charts of people of interest to me, I looked at Michael & Debbie's charts. I knew that many people couldn't understand why he divorced from Lisa Marie but married plain-old Debbie. Well, let me tell you why; it's because Michael and Debbie create the 8-1 energy combo just like Katherine and Joe. In other words Michael's relationship with Debbie was a lot easier, smoother and amicable than his with Lisa. If you were wondering his interaction with Lisa creates a 7-2 combo, and the saying for that? 7-2 work to do! Not easy as ABC for sure, lol.
Ok! Back to Katherine, let's look at other centers of interest in her chart. She has a defined throat center (colored brown) so she cannot be put under pressure to speak and she has her own unique way, which is consistent, of expression and manifestation. She also has a defined root center (the brown box at the bottom of the chart), which means that she is not someone who will suffer from stress (adrenaline type stress).
People with this center open like Michael really suffer from adrenal pressure, in fact if you look at the article on Michael's chart you will see why he suffered from stress and was insomniac. The open head, ajna he had exerting pressure combined with the powerful adrenaline type pressure from his open root center is really not a joke. If you imagine how anxious you get when you have a big event like exam or interview etc for these people with open root (let alone open head and ajna) you have to magnify that a million folds.
THE GATES & CHANNELS:
If we look at the gates and channels (lines) in Katherine's chart we can begin to see how she functions as well as what's in store for her for the remainder of her life. Note: HDS doesn't predict things, it gives an idea of the sort of theme based on the positions of planets, etc. So, Katherine's conscious side (black column) has the Sun on gate 2 line 1. This is the gate of the 'Driver' or Higher self. This gate provides direction for others and on the 1st line it reads "Intuition - Sensitivity to disharmony and atrophy". Isn't that just sooo Katherine? lol
So what people see in Katherine is also someone worthy of respect who knows what is right action to be taken i.e., who knows the direction. She also has the Earth on gate 1 line 1 and this is the gate of Creativity. In this line it reads "Creation is independent of will', this is a creativity that can manifest in the person's 'unique direction' and also a creativity that demands attention, a creativity that has a deep need to express oneself. This part did surprise me I must admit because I have never really thought of Katherine as a creative person. However looking at both the detriments and exalted of this line does shed some light. Exalted this will manifest as "self expression which has its special timing" so perhaps we may start to see this side of Katherine more now that she is a major focus of her son's empire, life etc. Or perhaps through her religion she had found a unique direction in which to manifest this aspect of her, I don't know but would be interesting.
The detriment could also be the case, this is where by she has had creative instability due to lack of patience. Again unless someone knows her up close and person, it's had to say which way this energy has manifested in her life. She can also be a great source of inspiration for others, I remember Michael saying that he mother inspired him a lot.
LIFE:
Katherine's life can be divided into two halves; from 0 to 35ish and 35ish to end. From the chart we can see that the earlier part of her life was influenced by the nodes in gate 28 line 1 (the horse shoe-like symbol on the black column of the chart). The 28th gate is the gate of Struggle and it's also linked with the fear of death. Although this can sound negative, it doesn't have to be so. You see, the fear generated here as well as the struggle is what gives this gate the energy to fight on, to survive! The trick is to know what is correct for her to fight for i.e., what she has energy for and this she can know by following her authority & strategy as I mentioned earlier.
This gate also can explain Katherine's earlier life (polio) and perhaps also her devotion to her religion. On the 1st line this energy manifests also in 'preparation' or in other words the intuition to apply energy to details. This will explain why Katherine was in charge of making all the early Jackson 5's costumes. Actually come to think of it, it does also explain what I stated earlier in regards to her 'Creativity' that demands self expression.
The later and remaining part of her life follows the gate 27 line 1 (the other horse-shoe like symbol on the black column). This gate is concerned with nourishment and care. The care for the sick, the young, the weak and it's also the gate of compassion. Mother Teresa had this gate. It can also be that the person with this gate needs to be cared for ( I am stating this because as we know Michael was a prime carer and provider for Katherine). I am also stating this because of the position of this gate in her chart, the line 1. The keynote for this line here is "Selfishness" which can manifest as either "the power to care for oneself first" (in exaltation) or "The power of selfishness that is manifested through envy" (in detriment).
Now this is interesting when you consider Katherine's allege attitude towards those whom Michael chose to run the money side of his estate. She has been... shall we say 'uncharacteristic' in her actions, which seems to want to overturn Michael's wishes regarding his wealth. It gets even more err .... interesting lol
When we look at some of the gates on the unconscious side of her chart (the red column) there are two or so gates that are worth mentioning. In her life pattern, the life she has now to the end, from the unconscious side, Katherine has the gate 27 again but this time in the 5th line. As I have mentioned this gate is about caring and so on. In the 5th line it reads, "The executor - The ability to distribute effectively the resources of others"! This brings us back to Michael's estate doesn't it.
This energy can manifest itself as either, "The power & strength to care for the resources of others" (in exaltation) or " Weakness and the risk of loss of power restricting caring" (in detriment). How this will play out in Katherine's life as we go on, I can't say. However it explains her determination to be in charge of the estate in some indirect way. It doesn't mean that if she was to have a 'seat/say' in the estate she would run it down but it does mean that she would be looking to distribute Michael's estate to more than the children he left it to. She may run it successfully if she takes advice (exaltation) or she may not (detriment). The point is that she does have the potential of doing a good job with the estate.
The other gates that shed more light into Katherine from her unconscious (red column) side are the Moon and Sun positions. The Moon (third symbol on the column) is where we get our motivations from i.e., what moves us. Katherine has this on gate 42 line 6 and it's exalted (red arrow points upwards). Again this emphasizes the caring nature in her. Here this gate is about 'Nurturing'. This manifests as 'the power to share the process of growth with others'.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion then Katherine is certainly a strong woman, she is a Manifesting generator with splenic authority. She needs to wait to respond (through direct questions) and use her intuition/gut feeling (splenic) to know what is correct for her. This will enable her to get into things that she has energy for and also things that will bring her gifts to be shared. Thus eliminating the feelings of anger and frustrations, which all Manifesting generators in the not self suffer from. Instead she will feel satisfied.
She is very caring individual with a strong sense of fighting for what she believes. She has to make sure that she is fighting for the right things though because with her ego/heart definition she is likely to attract all sort of people who may not be right for her. All in all, good luck to Mrs Jackson.
It was certainly interesting to me to learn a few things about this remarkable woman, in her own right. This entry is very, very, very basic because the knowledge contained in any chart is too vast, unique, and detailed to be covered completely. HDS goes into so much detail and depth that can be see from as a details prospective as the vibrational frequencies of molecules, amino acids, DNA etc I am by no means anywhere near an expert of this vast subject.
